RELEASED: The Forest God — A One-Shot Adventure Guide for Ancient Elements RPG

This adventure is designed to be played with Ancient Elements RPG, but you can use just about any OSR system.

“The Forest God” is intended to be a one shot that lasts about two hours. Although I have attached some pre-generated player characters I do encourage the players to make their own. Part of the fun is making your characters.

“It is a cold early Spring day, and the adventurers approach a small village looking for a few pints of ale and some food, and perhaps a place to stay. However, the village is somber and almost deserted except for a few people with downcast demeanor walking by.”

The Adventure can be downloaded for FREE at Itch.io:

Released on ITCHIO: The Guardians of Bendor

This is an adventure designed to be played with Pulp Kharma

It is a mash-up inspired by two famous science fiction franchises. One seems a bit like a Western in outer space, and the other seems a bit like a kung fu movie in outer space. When you look at the Character Cards at the end I think you are going to be able to figure it out.

The PCs of this adventure are the crew of a space ship named Tranquility. They are struck by a strange cosmic phenomenon that can at best be described as a “space storm”. The ship is sucked into a strange vortex. The instruments mostly stop working, and some are damaged beyond repair. Luckily the engine, artificial gravity, and the life support are fine.

And everything is quiet. As if nothing had ever happened. There is no sign of any “space storm”. And they are not where they were when the storm pulled them into the vortex.

As the adventure proceeds they discover they are in a very strange place indeed. There is a planet named Bendor inhabited by short hairy humanoids called Ezoks. And there are other familiar characters as well, some not so friendly.

‘Small Survivors’ Now Published

The game is now on ITCHIO, LULU, and AMAZON.

I decided to avoid DriveThruRPG. They have been irritating me and I am thinking it was a mistake to sign up with them for exclusive distribution. So hopefully this experiment with ITCHIO will work out!

UPDATE (23 DEC 2022): Not only is Small Survivors now published, but it is also indexed! Yeah. It only took a bit over 2 weeks! I don’t know why it took so long to index (my other games have been indexed immediately after publication). I thought it might have been the subject matter; the game is about the characters being shrunk to 2cm tall, but the reason why they were shrunk to that size was potentially controversial given the woke and protective attitude of so many towards certain dystopian themes related to the BeerBug and the shot. Oh well. Its indexed now! It won’t get the benefit of showing up at the top of the ‘Most Recent’ list since it is now buried in the pile from two weeks ago, but whatever!

REVIEW: Mini-Dungeon Monthly # 9 — Oct. 2019

Mini-Dungeon Monthly #9 is one issue of the monthly ezine produced by AAW Games LLC, which I think is owned and written by a Mr. Jonathan G. Nelson. Since February 2019 AAW Games has been producing a monthly ezine which features five brand-new Mini-Dungeon adventures compatible with the 5th Edition of the World’s Most Popular Roleplaying Game! The price for each issue is $9.99.

At first I thought this was a rather steep price for a slim little monthly ezine, but when I dug into the issue I had obtained I found it to be very worthwhile. These adventures are short, but very well thought out and packed with interesting content. Don’t let the slim size fool you. These ezines are loaded with high quality content.

Each adventure comes with detailed descriptions of the area, the monsters, and of course the treasure. What is missing is pointless wordy fluff and unnecessary art work. There is appropriate and attractive art work in each issue, just not so much as to bloat the ezine unnecessarily.

If you want some fast and fun adventures without having to wade through useless content Mini-Dungeon Monthly #9 is what you need. And I suspect the others are pretty cool too!
